Learning With My Hands

Recently, I decided to build a breadboard computer with a friend. We’re building it using the breadboard kit from Ben Eater, and it’s really just for fun.

Although I understand computers and computer architecture pretty well, I think I’ll still learn from this project. There’s a lot of value from doing things with my hands, as it’ll force me to slow down and think a little bit more. There’s a lot of nuance when working on hands on projects, and even more when there’s manual labor and my hands involved. It’s definitely not the most efficient way to learn about computers, there’ll be a lot of time “wasted” doing things like splicing wires, etc, but it’ll be nice to slow down a bit to get a break from all the hectic-ness going on recently.
